SWOSU Teams to Face Each Other in Mind Games Semifinals

Southwestern Oklahoma State University has been very successful on KSBI-TV's Mind Games academic competition, but now SWOSU students in Weatherford have good reason to be proud.

The SWOSU Blue team defeated Oklahoma City University Blue team, 380-330, on December 1 and now advances to the semifinals. The opponent? The SWOSU White team!

Both SWOSU teams are on the same side of the tourney bracket and will meet Dec. 15 to see which team advances to the Mind Games tourney finals. Coach of both teams is Dr. Fred Gates, professor of history at SWOSU.

Members of the SWOSU Blue team are: Connor Holland, Duncan; Mackenzie Bergagnini, Ponca City; Jessi Goetzinger, Edmond (North); and Thomas Blakely, Enid.

Members of the SWOSU White team are: Zeke Mills, Springfield MO; Will Robinson, Canton; and Keegan Coon of Davenport.

The Oklahoma collegiate academic competition airs weekly on KSBI-TV in Oklahoma City with matches between Oklahoma universities starting at 6:30 p.m. each Sunday. Jenifer Reynolds is the TV host. The students compete for scholarship money provided by The Chickasaw Nation and Oklahoma Energy Resources Board.

SWOSU is the defending champs of Mind Games. SWOSU has fared well in the competition since it began in 2011. SWOSU won the 2012-13 grand championship title, and SWOSU won the 2013 and 2012 spring semester titles as well as finishing runnerup during the 2012 fall semester.
