West Central Tourney Planned January 20-25 at Pioneer Cellular Event Center at SWOSU

Pioneer Cellular Event Center

The West Central Basketball Tournament will be the first event in the new Pioneer Cellular Event Center on the campus of Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and eight schools in western Oklahoma will take the court starting January 20 through the 25th in Weatherford.

The West Central Basketball Tournament will feature the following teams: Arapaho/Butler; Burns Flat/Dill City; Calumet; Canute; Corn Bible Academy; Hydro/Eakly; Sentinel and Thomas.

Nathan Smith, director of the center, said the 93,000 square foot Pioneer Cellular Event Center will be a site for conferences, trade shows, concerts/entertainment, athletic events, tournaments and more. The project was initiated by the City of Weatherford’s “Vision 2020” strategic planning process and made possible by the “Yes! Weatherford” sales tax campaign, SWOSU students and the university.

SWOSU’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will play their opening games in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center on Saturday, January 25, when Northwestern Oklahoma State University comes to Weatherford for a 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. doubleheader. Admission is free and the many fun events are planned that evening.
