Dinner Planned Sunday to Benefit the WestCentral Oklahoma Literacy Coalition

An enchilada dinner to benefit the WestCentral Oklahoma Literacy Coalition is planned this Sunday, January 19, at the Pioneer Center, 1000 Gartrell Place, in Weatherford.

The dinner will be held from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Adults are $7, children 4-12 are $3 and children under 3 are free. Everyone is invited.

Donations will be gratefully accepted, according to Dr. Cynthia Pena of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University English as a Second Language (ESL) Community Tutoring Program, which is sponsoring the fundraising activity. Pena, Dr. Hector Garza and Spanish students at SWOSU who serve as tutors for the ESL program are organizing the event.

On the menu for Sunday are chicken enchiladas, rice, beans, chips and salsa, dessert and drinks. Entertainment will be provided by children folkloric dancers.

All proceeds from the dinner will be used for classroom, office supplies, books and other expenses of the organization.
