SWOSU Hosting Class A Area Basketball Tourney this Weekend

Southwestern Oklahoma State University will host one of Oklahoma’s four Class A high school area basketball tournaments this Thursday through Saturday (February 27 – March 1) in the new Pioneer Cellular Event Center on the Weatherford campus.

Two boys and two girls teams will advance from this area tournament to the Class A state championship tourney the following weekend in Oklahoma City.

Four communities are sending both their boys and girls teams to the tourney at SWOSU: Cheyenne, Fort Cobb-Broxton, Hydro-Eakly and Seiling. Other girls teams are from Arapaho-Butler and Vici. Other boys teams are from Beaver and Laverne.

Thursday’s action sees Vici and Hydro-Eakly girls square off at 1:30 p.m. followed by the Laverne and Hydro-Eakly boys at 3 p.m. The evening session features Arapaho-Butler versus Fort Cobb-Broxton girls at 6:30 p.m. and the Beaver and Cheyenne boys at 8 p.m.

Friday’s winner’s bracket finals has Seiling girls facing Cheyenne at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Seiling boys vs. Fort Cobb-Broxton at 8 p.m. Loser’s bracket games take place on Friday afternoon at 1:30 and 3 p.m.

Games on Saturday will start at 6:30 and 8 p.m.

Admission for the games is $5 for everyone.
