SWOSU 5K Run and Walk Attracts 123

SWOSU 5K
Even this bulldog took part in the recent 7th annual SWOSU Gold Tough Enough to Wear Pink 5K Run/Walk held recently on the Weatherford campus by wearing an official event t-shirt. The run/walk attracted 123 runners/walkers to the SWOSU campus, home of the Bulldogs.

One hundred twenty three walkers and runners participated in the 7th annual SWOSU Gold Tough Enough to Wear Pink 5K Run/Walk held recently on the Weatherford campus.

The run/walk benefits the American Cancer Society and the Custer County Relay for Life. Race chairperson Davie Owen said the organizers of the 5K aim to donate at least $5,000 every year.

Prizes were awarded the day of the race to the top three male and female winners. The City of Weatherford’s Hotel/Motel Tax Committee provided Chamber Bucks given in the amount of $250 for first place, $200 for second place and $150 for third place.

Shane Brookshire of Weatherford was the top male finisher with a time of 18:08, followed by second place finisher Charles Lerch of Anadarko and third place finisher Jim Enoh from Desoto TX. 

Weatherford’s Jennifer Osborn was the top female finisher with a time of 21:02. Taylor Powell, also of Weatherford, finished second with Stillwater native Rachel Fieldsend placing third.

The male and female winners of each age division also won $25 in Chamber Bucks. Men’s winners included: Connor Albrightson, Weatherford; Maurice Masterson, Weatherford;

Chance Thomas, Chickasha; Timoteo Salinas, Ft. Sill; Bronson Sapp, Tuttle; Russell Schneberger, Elk City; James Ratcliffe, Weatherford; Bryan Cook, Weatherford; Monte Gray, Weatherford; Craig Mahl, Canute; Larry Jones, Weatherford; and Gerald Green, Clinton.

The top finishers in the women’s divisions were: Kelsey Watkins, Enid; Emilie Miller, Oklahoma City; Carre Dawson, Weatherford; Katena Aldridge, Carter; Vicki Hinkle, Sayre; and Debbie Bloomer, Burns Flat.
