SWOSU Repeats as Mind Games Grand Champions

The Southwestern Oklahoma State University Mind Games team is grand champions of the academic competition for the second year in a row.

SWOSU defeated Tulsa Community College, 1,140-760, in the final competition on May 25 on KSBI-TV in Oklahoma City.

The teams matched up in the championship after SWOSU won the four-year university Mind Games academic competition during the fall semester and Tulsa Community College won the two-year university competition in the spring.

SWOSU adds the grand championship to an impressive list of Mind Games accomplishments. This is SWOSU’s second grand championship title. SWOSU has also won the spring semester title twice and the fall semester trophy once. The Bulldogs were runners-up in the 2012 fall semester.

SWOSU had two teams in the competition this year, and the “Blue” team advanced to the semifinals before losing to the SWOSU “White” team. The two teams combined to win $4,845 in scholarship money based on their outstanding performances, according to Coach Dr. Fred Gates, professor of history.

Members of the SWOSU “White” team are: Zeke Mills, Springfield (MO); Jessi Goetzinger, Edmond; and Keegan Coon, Davenport.
