Over 500 Students Coming to SWOSU Band Camp

The 59th annual Southwestern Oklahoma State University Band Camp begins this Sunday, July 6, on the Weatherford campus, and more than 100 schools from Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas are slated to attend.     

More than 500 campers in grades 7-12 will spend the week at SWOSU.

Students will take elective classes and receive instruction from more than 70 outstanding band directors from Indiana, Ohio, Oklahoma and Texas. Campers will be split into five concert bands, including: honor band, symphonic band, concert band, cadet band and prep band. Lead band directors are Dr. Keith Talley, SWOSU; Dr. Jeff Gershman, University of Indiana; Glenn Lambert, Dallas (TX); David Christy, Ponca City; and Jerry Everett, Temple (TX).

Registration for the camp will be in the SWOSU Fine Arts Center lobby Sunday, July 6, from 1-3 p.m. Late registrations and walk-ins will be accepted but pre-registration is encouraged.

The final concert for the camp will take place on Friday, July 11, at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium.  The public is invited to the free concert.
