Trumpet Performer Wiff Rudd Coming to SWOSU

Wiff Rudd, professor of trumpet at Baylor University, will be presenting several clinics for the SWOSU Music Department and performing an open concert on Wednesday and Thursday, October 7-8, on the Weatherford campus.

Rudd is widely respected as a trumpet performer, pedagogue and has given clinics and presentations at some of the most prestigious music schools and conventions around the world, according to Dr. Richard Tirk of the SWOSU Music Department.

Rudd’s mini-residency commences on Wednesday by addressing the SWOSU Music Department students at 4 p.m. in the Berrong Recital Hall.  His clinic, The Cycle of All Things – Developing a Project Driven Career, will discuss business and performance strategies for musicians in the 21st century. 

On Thursday, Rudd will work with the SWOSU trumpets at 8 a.m. in Fine Arts Center Room 102. At 4 p.m., Rudd will present a trumpet masterclass with SWOSU trumpet students also in Fine Arts Center Room 102.  The mini-residency will conclude with Rudd collaborating with SWOSU music faculty Yu-Ling Chen on a recital at 7 p.m. in the Berrong Recital Hall.  Music on the recital will include works by Leonard Bernstein, Fisher Tull, Duke Ellington among others.
