SWOSU-Sayre Hosts Career Day & Awards Scholarships

More than 225 area high school juniors and seniors recently attended the annual Career Day at Southwestern Oklahoma State University-Sayre.

Representatives from 18 SWOSU programs gave information to groups of high school and college students.

“Career Day helps us make local students aware of academic programs and career opportunities available through the university,” said event organizer and SWOSU-Sayre Registrar Terry Billey.

Scholarships were also up for grabs at the event. One student from each attending high school will be awarded a Career Day Scholarship in the spring.  Scholarships will be given to students from Canute, Cordell, Elk City, Erick, Merritt, Reydon, Sayre, Sentinel, Shamrock (TX), Sweetwater, Burns Flat and Vici.

The students were treated to lunch, gifts, and games inside Patterson Fieldhouse on the SWOSU-Sayre campus. Billey said the high school students had a great time playing zorb ball, bumper ball and dodge ball and getting to know the Southwestern-Sayre students.

This is the 15th consecutive year SWOSU-Sayre has hosted Career Day.
