Dr. Janet Seratte of Cache was recently presented the first-ever Brandy Award presented by the Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy in Weatherford.

The new award was created by the Pharmacy Alumni Association to recognize outstanding service to the College of Pharmacy and the Pharmacy Alumni Association.  It also recognizes the achievements of an individual working on behalf of the College of Pharmacy through service in alumni programs, on advisory committees or through efforts made to ensure the welfare of the College of Pharmacy.

Seratte, a 2006 pharmacy graduate, was one of the founding members of the Pharmacy Alumni Association Council (PAAC), serving in leadership roles such as president. She also served as chair of the PAAC’s Recent Graduates Committee, which initiated the College of Pharmacy pinning at the Pharmacy Graduate Recognition/Hooding ceremony and a complimentary one-year membership for new graduates to the Pharmacy Alumni Association.

Additionally, Seratte provided valuable input as a member of the College of Pharmacy’s Dean’s search committee.  And, most recently, she served on the College of Pharmacy 75th Anniversary Planning Committee.  She volunteered for all the endeavors while she worked as a full-time pharmacist, working in chain and independent retail as well as hospital pharmacy before her current role as outpatient pharmacy supervisor for the US Army Medical Department at Fort Sill.

"Her dedication to the SWOSU College of Pharmacy and the Pharmacy Alumni Association is inspiring,” said SWOSU College of Pharmacy Director of Pharmacy Alumni and Development Patti Harper. “It is fitting to award the first-ever SWOSU College of Pharmacy Brandy Award to Janet.”

Seratte lives in Cache with her family:  husband Rondell, a SWOSU graduate; 19-year old son Jake, Cadet Third Class in the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs; and 17 year old Matt, junior at Cache High School.
