SWOSU Blood Drive to Benefit Sixth-Grader

The annual February blood drive on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus in Weatherford will be held February 2-3, and this year’s event will benefit a Weatherford sixth-grade student.

Jace Hilliard continues his fight against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a rare form of cancer that attacks the body’s red blood cells. Hilliard was diagnosed in late 2014 and began treatments during the week of Christmas.

Cindy Dougherty, dean of students at SWOSU, said students wanted the SWOSU drive to show support for Hilliard as well as thousands of others who are fighting alongside him.

The blood drive will be held from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day in the Wellness Center. The drive is conducted by the Oklahoma Blood Institute.
