Tapestry Exhibition and Workshops Planned February 18-March 18 at SWOSU

Tapestry Exhibition

A tapestry exhibition and workshops are planned in February/March at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

The SWOSU Visiting Artist Program is sponsoring “Sun on Earth” from February 18-March 18 in the gallery of the Art Building on the Weatherford campus. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Free workshops are planned February 21, 28, March 4 and 11 from 1-4 p.m. in the Art Building. The workshops are open to the general public and will permit individuals to get hands-on experience at tapestry weaving.

“Sun on Earth” will feature a variety of tapestry works by five Oklahoma tapestry artists: Cristina Stone, Mary Segal, Myra Jennings, Carol Goyer and E.K. Jeong. Together, these artists created a large tapestry piece called “Sun on Earth” in 2009, which has been exhibited in different cities and towns throughout the country. This work will be on display along with works of each individual artist.

This program is made possible in part by a grant from the Oklahoma Art Council. Seating is limited for the workshops. For more information or workshop reservations, please contact Dr. Jeong at 580.774.3756 or ek.jeong@swosu.edu.
