SWOSU Hosting Class 2A Area Basketball Tournament

Southwestern Oklahoma State University will host one of Oklahoma’s four Class 2A high school area basketball tournaments this Friday, Saturday and Monday (March 6-7-9) in the new Pioneer Cellular Event Center on the Weatherford campus.

The tourney was supposed to be held March 5-7 but snowy weather conditions forced the delay.

Two boys and two girls teams will advance from this area tournament to the Class 2A state championship tourney on March 12-14.

Friday’s action sees Watonga and Minco girls square off at 1:30 p.m. followed by the Christian Heritage and Dale boys at 3 p.m. The evening session features Mangum and Hobart girls at 6:30 p.m. and the Hooker and Carnegie boys at 8 p.m.

Saturday’s winner’s bracket finals has the Fairview girls facing Dale at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Merritt boys vs. Hollis at 8 p.m. Loser’s bracket games take place on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 and 3 p.m.

Games on Monday will start at 6:30 and 8 p.m.

As a reminder, in addition to parking on the south, west and northwest sides of the new Pioneer Cellular Event Center, additional parking is available on the east side of the center that extends to the entire SWOSU campus parking.
