Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s Department of Education (DOE) will host the third annual STAMPEDE this Friday, April 24, in the SWOSU Education Building and Pioneer Cellular Event Center on the Weatherford campus.

More than 200 fourth graders from Weatherford’s West Elementary and Burns Flat-Dill City Public Schools will take part in STAMPEDE ’15 with teachers from the surrounding area and teacher candidates from SWOSU’s DOE.  The program starts at 8:45 a.m.

Students will rotate through 11 agricultural commodity group booths set up in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center. Participating include: Ag in the Classroom (two booths), Custer County 4H, Oklahoma Farm Bureau, Oklahoma Soybean Board, OSU Forestry Services, Southwest Dairy Farmers, Washita County 4H, Weatherford PS Child Nutrition and Triple S Farms.

The teachers and teacher candidates will attend professional development sessions and then join the students for observations.

SWOSU Coordinator of Student Teaching and Field Experience Bruce Belanger said STAMPEDE ‘15 offers a unique experience for students, teachers, teacher candidates, and university instructors and professors to interact and learn together.
