SWOSU-Sayre Adds Night Class in Elk City

Southwestern Oklahoma State University-Sayre recently added First Aid/CPR to its lineup of classes offered during the upcoming Spring 2016 semester at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City.

First Aid/CPR, which is American Red Cross certified, will meet Mondays at 5 p.m.  This brings the total number of SWOSU-Sayre classes offered at GPRMC to four.

Three classes will meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the hospital.  U.S. History Since 1877 meets at 8 a.m., College Algebra at 9:30 a.m. and English Composition I at 11 a.m.  Each lasts an hour and 15 minutes.

SWOSU-Sayre faculty members will teach all four classes, which will meet in Meeting Room A, next to the hospital’s restaurant, The Grill @ 1705.

According to Dean of SWOSU-Sayre, Sherron Manning, an education beyond high school is more important than ever to qualify for the skilled jobs that are available in the state.

“Now is a great time to prepare for the kind of rewarding, stable career that a college education provides,” Manning said.

Manning said that SWOSU-Sayre offers flexible classes in various formats to meet the needs of busy adults.

“In addition to our brick-and-mortar classes at the Sayre campus, we offer several online classes each semester,” Manning said.  “With classes coming to an Elk City campus courtesy of GPRMC, a college education for area residents has never been so convenient and attainable.”

Financial aid is also available for all part-time and full-time students who qualify.

Enrollment for the spring semester is underway.  Classes begin January 11 and continue until early May.
