Composer John Mackey to Perform with SWOSU Music Ensembles

Composer John MackeyComposer John Mackey will join the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Wind Symphony and Symphony Band in concert on Sunday, April 24, on the Weatherford campus.

The concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center. Admission is free, and the public is invited.

Mackey, who holds degrees from the Juilliard School and the Cleveland Institute of Music, is an American composer of classical music with an emphasis on music for wind band as well as orchestra. His music is played around the world, and SWOSU is pleased to host Mackey as artist in residence, according to Marc Mueller of the SWOSU Music Department.

Various other sessions involving Mackey, who has the landmark symphony Wine-Dark Sea, are open to the public also. They include:
