Volleyball, Crawfish and Shrimp Planned by SWOSU Team

Volleyball, crawfish and shrimp boil make for a fun time, and that is what the Southwestern Oklahoma State University volleyball team is planning Saturday, April 23, in Weatherford.

Josh Collins’ SWOSU volleyball squad, which won the 2015 Great American Conference Tournament and advanced to the NCAA tourney for the first time, is hosting a sand volleyball tourney, along with a crawfish/shrimp boil, at the SWOSU sand volleyball courts at the corner of Broadway and College Streets in Weatherford.

Check in for the tourney is at 9:30 a.m. and the dinner part will be served at 11:30 a.m.

Teams for sand volleyball must consist of at least 4 players and do not need to be coed. The cost is $5 per player, and the money can be turned in the day of the tournament or prior to that at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center in Locker Room/Office 125. Teams are able to sign up by emailing swosuvolleyball@yahoo.com and the email must be sent and confirmed by April 21. On the day of the tournament, the teams must arrive at 9:30 a.m. to discuss the tournament rules.

For a crawfish/shrimp plate, pre-orders are definitely recommended. Money must be turned in for pre-orders at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center, also in Locker Room/Office 125. A plate includes crawfish or shrimp, corn, sausage, red potatoes and bottled water. Some food will be available for those who did not pre-order, but it will be first come, first serve until food is gone.

Costs for the food are $8 for 1 lb. of meat + sides, $12 for 2 lb. + sides, $16 for 3 lb. + sides, and $20 for 4 lb. + sides. These costs are for pre-ordered meals. For non-pre-ordered meals, all costs increase by $4.
