Take Back Day for Prescription Drugs Planned Thursday on SWOSU Campus

The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics will host a Prescription Drug Take Back Day this Thursday, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus in Weatherford.

The public is invited and encouraged to participate.  The pharmaceutical take-back program is for the citizens of the State of Oklahoma, and NOT for businesses such as hospitals, doctor’s offices or pharmacies to dispose of controlled dangerous substances.

The Prescription Drug Take Back center will be located near the SWOSU Clock Tower, north of the intersection of College and Custer Streets. Parking for the event will be in the parking lot just south of the Clock Tower.

The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics is running the event in cooperation with the SWOSU and Weatherford Police Departments and SWOSU College of Pharmacy. Faculty member Dr. Krista Brooks said the college wanted to have this event before students departed for summer break.

For the safety of the employees of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and both police departments, please do not bring any syringes, liquids or inhalers.

For more information about the event, contact Brooks at 580.774.3274.
