Black Kettle Hall Celebration Planned October 15 at SWOSU

A ribbon-cutting and dedication for Black Kettle Hall is planned Saturday, October 15, at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. A lunch starting at 11 a.m. and dedication service at 12:30 p.m. is planned in the Memorial Student Center Ballroom, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony will follow at Black Kettle Hall, a renovated residence hall on the Weatherford campus.

SWOSU President Randy Beutler said the dedication will include honoring Cheyenne Chief Black Kettle and Arapaho Chief Little Raven, both who are highlighted in displays located at Black Kettle Hall. Among the guest speakers at the dedication will be U.S. Congressman Frank Lucas, Cheyenne & Arapaho Governor Eddie Hamilton, Lt. Gov. Cornell Sankey and SWOSU Distinguished Alumnus Dr. Henrietta Mann.

The renovation of Black Kettle Hall, formerly known as Parker Hall South, is part of the university’s strategic plan to renovate the residence halls on the SWOSU campus. Work is now underway on Rogers Hall.
