Ronald Koehn Named SWOSU Academic Bridge Program Director

Dr. Ronald Koehn has been named director of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Academic Bridge Program on the Weatherford campus.

The SWOSU Academic Bridge Program is designed to help students improve college preparedness through innovative courses that advance learning in English, Math, and Reading. Through active and engaged learning activities in developmental, co-requisite and orientation courses, students have the opportunity to develop skills that will help them progress towards degree completion.

Koehn is responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of the program. He will work directly with faculty to improve the performance of students in developmental education and co-requisite developmental/general education courses.

Koehn will help develop and implement the General Education freshman orientation course. He also ensures curriculum, classroom experiences and academic support services are appropriate and contribute to the SWOSU student retention and success goals. In addition to administrative duties, Koehn will teach half-time in the bridge program.

Koehn currently lives in Corn and is an assistant professor of mathematics at SWOSU. He has taught mathematics at SWOSU since 1998, climbing the ranks from a temporary instructor to an assistant professor. Koehn has been involved in the SWOSU community, serving in the Faculty Senate, Academic Advisory and Scholarship Council, Strategic Planning Committee, SWOSU Who’s Who Selection Committee and the Faculty Grievance Board.

Koehn earned an A.A. Degree in Bible in 1976 from Grace College of the Bible, a B.S. Degree in science education from Oklahoma State University, a M.S. Degree in mathematics from Wichita State University and finished his Ph.D. in mathematics in 2012 from the University of Oklahoma.
