Teacher Candidate Professional Development Day Planned November 2 at SWOSU

SWOSU’s Department of Education will host a Teacher Candidate Professional Development Day this Wednesday, November 2, from 7:30 a.m. until 2:50 p.m. on the Weatherford campus.

Activities will take place on the second floor of the SWOSU Memorial Student Center.

One of the activities planned is a talk by 2015-16 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year finalist Sharon Morgan, a former first grade teacher at Piedmont Schools. She is the current Director of Early Childhood and Curriculum and Instruction for the Oklahoma State Department of Education. The public is invited to the 1:30 p.m. talk.

The day’s event will feature mock job interviews, networking lunch, a career and resources fair from 11-12 and other activities. There will also be professional development concurrent sessions on topics such as technology tools to engage all learners, engaging students through ice-breakers, classroom funding via grants, and new teacher finances/incentives.
