SWOSU Libraries Seeking Help with Photo IDs at Homecoming

SWOSU Libraries seeks help from the public in solving some “History Mysteries” in the university’s new institutional repository, SWOSU Digital Commons (http://dc.swosu.edu/).

The SWOSU Digital Commons features multiple digital collections and serves to preserve the history of SWOSU and western Oklahoma.  SWOSU Digital Commons is openly available to the public to search, view and download content from these collections.

Many of the photographs in these collections have little to no descriptions.  SWOSU community, including alumni and the general public, are being asked to help with providing more information about these historical items. Photos in the picture galleries have a link, “Help describe this image,” which will send an email to the library allowing viewers to give a more enriching description to the photos.

On Homecoming Saturday, the Al Harris Library will be opening early at 10 a.m., and there will be tables set up in both the Memorial Student Center (10 a.m. until 1 p.m.) and in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center (12-5pm) with library staff on hand to assist the SWOSU community in identifying the photographs.

The History Mysteries photo gallery is being launched in conjunction with 2016 Homecoming, but will continue to be an ongoing project for years to come with more images added as the project continues.
