Silas Lambert is Gates Scholar at SWOSU

Southwestern Oklahoma State University student Silas Z. Lambert of Anadarko is a Gates Millennium Scholar (GMS) on the Weatherford campus.

The GMS program, established in 1999, is a $1.6 billion initiative funded by a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The goal of the program is to promote academic excellence and to provide an opportunity for outstanding minority students. Since its inception, the program has produced 20,000 Gates scholars across the nation.

Lambert’s award is renewable up to five years in any undergraduate discipline and throughout graduate school, to a doctoral degree in any of the following disciplines: computer science, education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science.
