Text-a-Gift Planned Saturday at SWOSU to Help Hurricane Victims

With another hurricane about ready to hit the United States, Southwestern Oklahoma State University students want to continue efforts to help with a “text-a-gift” to the American Red Cross campaign.

At Saturday’s SWOSU football home opener in Weatherford, the Collegiate Activities Board will have a table at the 6 p.m. game to promote the donations.

When fans submit the donation, they will receive a confirmation text from the American Red Cross. Participants will then show the confirmation to CAB workers and, in return, will receive a ticket for a chance to win an Apple watch.

“Many individual SWOSU students and groups want to help with hurricane relief, so this seems like a good solution.” said SWOSU Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Ruth Boyd.

The Apple watch will be given away by CAB at halftime of the football game.

The effort is a collaboration between several SWOSU groups—SWOSU Foundation, Inc., athletics, student life, CAB and Student Government Association.
