Dan Haerle Quintet to Perform Free Concert at SWOSU

Well-known Dan Haerle Quintet will conduct a series of clinics and perform in concert on Tuesday, September 26, at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

The public is invited to participate in the free events.

The concert will be held at 8 p.m. in the Berrong Recital Hall. Clinics will be held at 2 and 3:30 p.m. in the recital hall. A jazz combo clinic will be at 2 p.m. followed by a rhythm section/saxophone/jazz improvisation clinic at 3:30 p.m.

“We’re so excited to have the Dan Haerle Quintet returning to our campus,” said Dr. Richard Tirk, associate professor of trumpet and jazz at SWOSU. “Mr. Haerle literally wrote the book on jazz piano and is one of the foremost jazz educators in the world.”

Haerle is traveling with a lineup of living jazz legends, including drum great Ed Soph, guitarist Fred Hamilton, saxophonist Brad Leali, and bassist Bob Bowman.  These master performers and educators will present the clinics in addition and perform at the concert.

Haerle has performed with Clark Terry, Pat Metheny, Freddie Hubbard and numerous other modern jazz leaders. He is a composer, performer, educator and ambassador of jazz piano. A regents professor emeritus of jazz studies at the University of North Texas, Haerle has written instructional material used by thousands of musicians worldwide.
