Finalists Named in Joyce Adams Curtis Concerto & Aria Competition at SWOSU
Southwestern Oklahoma State University recently hosted the 5th annual Joyce Adams Curtis Concerto/Aria Competition preliminary round on the Weatherford campus, and four finalists were selected in the instrumental and vocal divisions.
SWOSU student finalists are:
Vocal Division
- Avery Morrison, student of Dr. Kristin Griffeath
- Brianna Boyce, student of Dr. Robin Griffeath
- Madeline Kimball, student of Dr. Kristin Griffeath
- Alyssa Garcia, student of Dr. Robin Griffeath
Instrumental Division
- Katayla Mongold, student of Dr. Yu-Ling Chen
- Jessica Haas, student of Dr. Shelley Martinson
- Chiao-Ying Lisa Chang, student of Shuo-Hui Sophie Hung
- Jia-Rou Zoe Lin, student of Dr. Alex Lee
The vocal and instrumental winners will soon compete and receive a monetary award and the honor of performing their work with the SWOSU orchestra during a 2018 spring concert.
The Joyce Adams Curtis Concerto/Aria Competition is named after a beloved colleague who taught in the SWOSU Music Department for more than 10 years and who suddenly passed away in the summer of 2012.
