Free Graphic Design and Digital Graphic Art Events Planned at SWOSU
A graphic design conference and a digital graphic art workshop and competition are planned at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
The free graphic design conference is February 13 and the free workshop/competition are planned for March 1. Both events are sponsored by the SWOSU Department of Art, Communication & Theatre.
On February 13, Dr. Siriporn Peters and her students in the graphic design program will host the conference. The event will take place 9 a.m. until 12 noon in the Memorial Student Center Ballroom and guest speakers will include Phillip Reid, publisher of the Weatherford Daily News, and SWOSU students. In the afternoon from 1-3 p.m., SWOSU alumni from the graphic design program will serve on a panel and speak about their experiences.
In conjunction with the conference, a design exhibition featuring work from SWOSU students will be displayed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Memorial Student Center Lobby.
On March 1, there will be another workshop and competition hosted by Peters and her graphic design students. The free Digital Graphic Art Workshop will be presented in the Art Building, Room 204, from 10 a.m. to noon.
After the workshop, the competition will consist of students creating a digital illustration on-site from 1 to 3 p.m. The illustrations will be judged immediately after the competition. The winner of the competition will receive a $1,000 SWOSU scholarship and a Wacom Tablet.
Space is limited for both the workshop and the competition. Pre-registration is required.
