SWOSU Blood Drives Help Save 2,349 Lives

Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford had five blood drives during the 2017-18 school year, and Oklahoma Blood Institute officials have reported a total of 783 donations.

“Each donation saves three lives, giving SWOSU a grand total of saving 2,349 lives,” OBI Account Consultant Emma Meyer said. “That is amazing!”

The first blood drive was conducted on August 21, where a bloodmobile was stationed at the SWOSU Clock Tower area. The next four blood drives were held at the Wellness Center on September 18-19, December 4-5, February 5-6 and the last one on April 9-10.

The December blood drive had the most donations at 216 donors.
