SWOSU Delegation Makes NASA Workforce Development Trip
Ten students and two faculty members at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford recently took a NASA Workforce Development trip to San Antonio and Houston (TX).
While in San Antonio, the group was given a full day private tour of several labs at the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI). The group learned about different areas of expertise and services provided by SwRI including microbiology, chemistry and chemical engineering, intelligent systems, fuels and lubricants, space science and mechanical engineering.
In Houston, the group toured the Johnson Space Center and was given an amazing experience of having lunch with Dr. J. D. Bartoe, a former NASA shuttle payload specialist and research manager for the International Space Station.
The purpose of the trip was to give students first-hand knowledge of NASA related internships/careers and to network with professionals in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
