Voter Equality Day Celebrated in Weatherford

Voter Equality Day was recently celebrated in early November in the city of Weatherford. Mayor Mike Brown made the proclamation to honor the 100th anniversary passage of the Women’s Suffrage amendment, giving women in Oklahoma the right to vote.  Passage of the amendment occurred two years before passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.  Helping Mayor Brown (holding the proclamation) to honor the occasion were members of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Weatherford branch, local Girl Scouts and community residents.
