Lisa Friesen Named Director of the SWOSU Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning

Lisa Friesen has been named director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

Friesen, who has been the graduate program coordinator of the Everett Dobson School of Business and Technology, will start her new position on July 1. Friesen is a member of SWOSU’s faculty and teaches courses in management information systems, data analysis, computer and information access, and organization leadership.

Friesen earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from SWOSU and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Adult and Higher Education at the University of Oklahoma.  Friesen has over 17 years of teaching experience in secondary, vocational and higher education settings, with over 10 years of online teaching.  She also has six years of experience as a project manager and multimedia developer.

She is a member of the Student Appeals Committee at SWOSU as well as faculty sponsor of Gamma Delta Kappa. Friesen is chair-elect of the American Association of University Women’s Weatherford branch and a campus ambassador for Oklahoma Women in Higher Education. Friesen is a member of the Association for Talent Development (ATD), Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) and the American Association of Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE).

Friesen is replacing Marci Grant, who is retiring from SWOSU after 31 years of service to the university.

The CETL provides services to faculty in the areas of classroom technology, consultation, teacher and teaching resources, faculty development events, and scholarship both in person and virtually. Additionally, the center provides support to all students in the use of educational technology in their ongoing education at SWOSU.

Friesen and her husband, Greg, reside in Weatherford and are the parents of three children—Brandon, Brittany and Nicholas.
