Despite Flooding, Dorn and Lively Will Represent SWOSU at Miss Oklahoma Pageants

Flooding in eastern Oklahoma has affected the Miss Oklahoma Pageant but the show will continue as planned in a different location.

Miss SWOSU Meaghan Dorn and Miss SWOSU’s Outstanding Teen Lynsi Lively, both of Mangum, will represent Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford at the Miss Oklahoma Pageant set for June 3-8 in Tulsa.

The pageants were scheduled for the RiverSpirit Casino Resort in Tulsa but flooding prompted the temporary closing of the resort, which is not expected to open back up until mid-June. Therefore, Miss Oklahoma officials have arranged to have the pageant at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa.

Miss and teen pageant preliminary competitions will be Monday-Friday with the Miss Teen Oklahoma Pageant finals on Friday, June 7, at 7:30 p.m. and the Miss Oklahoma Pageant finals on Saturday, June 8, at 7:30 p.m.

Dorn will compete among 45 hopefuls during the Miss Oklahoma Pageant, and Lively will be among 33 teens competing for the Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen title.

Dorn is competing in the Omega group. She will have her interview session on Monday, talent on Tuesday, on stage interview on Wednesday and evening wear/social impact statement on Thursday. Dorn’s talent is Ballet en pointe to “Warrior” and her social impact is “The Love Foundation”—encouraging a healthy heart awareness.

Lively will be in the Teen Omega group. She will do interview on Wednesday, talent on Thursday, and active wear, on stage social impact and evening wear on Friday during preliminaries. Lively’s talent is singing “To Make You Feel My Love” and her social impact is “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”—living a happy life.

The winners of the pageants advance to the Miss America Pageant and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant later in the year.
