SWOSU and Elk City Choirs to Present Joint Concert on October 3

Two Southwestern Oklahoma State University and an Elk City High School choir will be featured in a joint concert on Thursday, October 3, on the SWOSU campus in Weatherford.

The 7 p.m. concert will be held in the Fine Arts Center. Admission is free, and the public is invited.

SWOSU choral groups featured will be the Southwestern Singers and Chamber Choir, both directed by Dr. Daniel Farris, and coming from Elk City will be the Varsity Mixed Ensemble, directed by Justin Ediger.

The program will feature two movements from Sir John in Love by Ralph Vaughan Williams; the first three movements of Charles Villiers Standford's A Cycle of Songs, op. 68; Hugo Alfvén's Aftonen;  and other works. Elk City High School Varsity Mixed will sing Musick's Empire by Lloyd Pfautsch and other works.

Featured pianists are Dr. Sophie Hung (Southwestern Singers) and Chih-Chi Huang (Chamber Choir). Student conductor of the Southwestern Singers is Gina Patterson.
