Earn Your Physical Therapist Assistant Degree at SWOSU

The Profession

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a physical therapist. The duties include assisting the physical therapist in implementing treatment programs according to a plan of care. The PTA trains patients in exercises and activities of daily living, conducts treatments using special equipment, administers modalities and other treatment procedures and reports to the physical therapist on the patients’ response.

Physical Therapist Assistants are employed in all types of health care facilities and clinics as well as home health, public schools and educational organizations. They may also have their own individual practice. Starting salaries vary considerably depending on type of facility.
