Laura Julian comes from Michigan's Upper Peninsula, where she first embraced classical music and decided to make it a lifelong endeavor. She studied vocal performance and piano for her undergraduate music degree at Northern Michigan University. Julian's graduate work focused on vocal performance, holistic health and music therapy (she completed a Master of Music in Music Therapy from Western Michigan University).

Before moving to Oklahoma, Julian worked as a hospice music therapist, a contracted music therapist for memory care units, and a business owner with a diverse client base of teens with anxiety disorders and adults with dementia. She also maintained a full vocal studio for years, played professional piano for high school choirs, dinners, and weddings, and has played for events with the Bissell organization in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for 24 years.

Julian enjoys teaching and working as a collaborative pianist in the SWOSU music department and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Musicology. In her private life, Julian composes music, engages in art (particularly painting and drawing) and enjoys creative writing. She also enjoys doing a bit of home renovation.
