Jim Mogg is advisor to the chairman of the board of directors for Duke Energy. Crescent Resources, Duke Energy's land management and real estate business, also reports to Mogg. Crescent manages land holdings and develops high-quality commercial, residential and multi-family real estate projects in nine states.
Mogg joined Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Company in Liberal, Kan., in 1973 in the gas supply department. He was promoted to manager of forecasting and operations for Panhandle Eastern gas supply in Kansas City in 1980, and was named general manager of gas supply for Trunkline Gas Company in Houston in 1986. He became general manager of contracts and operations, gas supply, for the Panhandle Eastern and Trunkline systems in 1988, and was named vice president of gas supply for Panhandle Eastern, Trunkline and Texas Eastern Transmission Corp. in 1989. Mogg was elected senior vice president of Panhandle Eastern in 1991, with responsibilities for marketing, regulatory affairs and gas supply, and became president of Centana Energy Corp. in 1992. He was named president and chief executive officer of Duke Energy Field Services (DEFS) in December 1994, and chairman, president and chief executive office for DEFS in December 1999. Mogg was named group vice president and chief development officer on Jan. 1, 2004. He was named advisor to the chairman in April 2006.
The Hydro, Okla., native received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1971. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University's Graduate School of Business.
He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and a past president of the Gas Processors Association. Mogg received the Gas Processors Association Hanlon Award in 2005 recognizing him for his work in building and expanding Duke Energy Field Services (DEFS). He also serves on the board of trustees for Discovery Place. Mogg is a past member of the TEPPCO board, and previously served as chairman from 1997 to 2005. He was named chairman of DCP Midstream Partners on Aug. 5, 2005.
Mogg was born in 1949. He and his wife, Freda, have two daughters.
