Michael and Lucille North

Lucille North, 1905-2002

Lucille North was born September 25, 1905 in Indian Territory. She grew up in Weatherford and attended Weatherford public schools. She graduated with and education degree from Southwestern Normal School in 1927. While attending SWN, she belonged to the “BullPups” (a cheer group), Tri-J sorority, and Forensia. After graduation she began her teaching career in Okeene, Oklahoma and then Corn, Oklahoma before marring Roy North in 1931. She received her Masters of Education degree in the mid 1950’s and then taught third grade in Weatherford’s East Elementary school until her retirement in 1971.

Lucille was very proud of Weatherford and Southwestern and participated in numerous volunteer organizations, Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, Meals on Wheels. She even drove the senior center van taking seniors to doctor’s appointments and church, she did this while in her late seventies herself. Lucille was awarded the volunteer of the year award from the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce in 1990 at the age of 85!

Michael R. North

Michael North was born in Tacoma Washington and raised in Weatherford, Oklahoma.  He attended the Weatherford public schools, graduating in 1973. Michael entered the U.S. Navy after high school and served four years, being honorably discharged in July of 1977. He then entered SWOSU in the fall of 1977 and graduated in December of 1980 with BS degrees in Accounting and Economics. Michael worked in public accounting for two and a half years before entering real estate development and syndication business. He passed the CPA examination in 1982. 

In 1986 he purchased a small child care center and over the next 25 years developed and built the child care business into 11 large child care centers with the capacity to serve 1,750 children. In 2011 the child care business was sold to a national child care company. Currently, Michael is working to develop and build a car wash company, with two operating express exterior tunnel car washes to date and a third to be built this year.
