What is Oklahoma GEAR UP?

Oklahoma Gear Up Logo

OK GEAR UP currently partners with 13 school districts and five colleges throughout the state to prepare nearly 16,000 middle and high school students for college success through college campus tours, ACT test preparation and testing, and college exploration and preparation courses. GEAR UP offers college access and financial aid information to students and families through awareness activities, including Oklahoma’s Promise and FAFSA completion assistance.

Once students arrive on one of GEAR UP’s partner college campuses, college success coaches provide support to students in their transition into college. They connect with students to answer questions and share information to set students up for success.

What is college coaching?

The mission of GEAR UP’s college success coaches is to help all GEAR UP students transition smoothly to college. They help college freshmen and families from GEAR UP schools with questions, information and the how-to on getting started at college. And, there is no cost to students or their families.

At SWOSU, Tiffany will meet with you at least once a month during your first year of college to work together to get through any roadblocks you may face. She will also provide timely reminders via texts about upcoming events, deadlines, life on campus, etc.

Get the most out of college

College coaching can benefit all types of students. Working with a coach can help you become better at what you want to do - in and out of the classroom. A college coach can help you get the most out of college, plan your career path, and finish on time.

Meet your college success coach

Tiffany Seal headshotHi friends! I’m Tiffany, and I was born and raised in Weatherford. While I initially considered exploring options outside my hometown, after visiting several campuses, SWOSU was the one that truly felt like home. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from SWOSU and am currently pursuing my Master of Science in Managerial Leadership.

I’ve been part of the SWOSU family since 2021, starting as an Administrative Assistant in the Nursing Department. In 2022, I joined the Admissions and Recruitment team as an Admissions Coordinator, and in April 2025, I transitioned into my current role as the OK GEAR UP College Success Coach.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me spending time with my husband, Kris, and keeping up with our energetic little guy, Oliver. I love baking, making memories with my besties, being with my family, and celebrating all things red, white, and blue!

I’m proud to be part of the Bulldog community and passionate about helping students find their path at the university that means so much to me.

GO DAWGS!
