Surgical Technology Admission Process

Admission Process:

  1. Apply online to Southwestern Oklahoma State University. (Only if you are not already attending SWOSU)
  2. Submission of official high school transcript (or GED scores) and official transcripts for college level coursework must be submitted to the Register’s Office. (Only if you are not already attending SWOSU)
  3. The following general education courses must be completed prior to core curriculum courses for the Surgical Technology Program:

    All general education courses must be completed with a minimum letter grade of “C” to be eligible for the Surgical Technology Program. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0

  1. Complete Surgical Technology application.
  2. Take Intro to Surgical Technology offered in the spring.
  3. Program applications will be accepted on a rolling basis as long as class size permits. If students meet acceptance guidelines a letter will be sent notifying them of acceptance and start date. Once they sign the acceptance agreement and return with their intent to start the program they will be enrolled in courses.
  4. SWOSU accepts a class annually with classes beginning each August.
  5. If an applicant does not meet the admission criteria, he/she will be notified in writing. If the applicant wishes to complete his/her file and application to establish eligibility for consideration the following year, remaining requirements must be submitted, and the program director must be notified of the intent in writing.
