The SWOSU Art program has four different areas of study that allow students to focus on a specific branch of art that interests them the most. Our qualified faculty members have both national and international recognition. We offer a wide variety of opportunities to offer our students such as Art Club, Future Art Educators Association and the Graphic Design Student Association. These organizations plan field trips to galleries and museums as well as attending various art-based workshops.

Why SWOSU is the Place for the Studying Art
SWOSU's faculty and staff are as passionate about art as they are about teaching. Be it traditional or contemporary, our art department houses a cadre of celebrated faculty members with national as well as international recognition. Many of our faculty members have garnered grants and awards from the Oklahoma Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Oklahoma Humanities Council.
As a student at SWOSU, you can expand your art knowledge outside the classroom by joining the art department's active Art Club, Graphic Design Club and Future Art Educators Blub. These clubs regularly take field trips to galleries and museums and have attended the national conference for the College Arts Association and National Design Conference in New York City and Dallas.
Internships will give you a taste of the real world. SWOSU has an in-department Graphic Design Studio internship and will help you apply for other internships in the community and region.
The SWOSU Art Gallery hosts an ever-changing array of exhibits -- bringing in a variety of artists from all over the region and from around the world. As a student, you too, will have the chance to exhibit your work in SWOSU's Art Gallery, as well as show your artwork at your Senior Exhibition.
All of our faculty would love to visit with you, as well as assist you with any additional information you need.
